Department
of physical education is a central facility for sports in university. Various
University team have been selected, trained and sent to represent the Inter
University Sports Tournament throughout the year.
Physical Education and Sports are an
integral part of general education. The Department of Physical Education
presently consists of one Director and Five Assistant Directors (Men) and 2
Assistant Director (Women). (Presently 3 Assistant Directors post are vacant.)
and a Hockey one coach. Over the years the efforts of staff members have brought
glory to the university. The focus always has been on raising general
consciousness of good health of student community. Further, by training such
students selections are made to represent the university at local, state,
national and international level. Our glorious sports personalities over the
years are Shri Ansuman Gaekwad, Shri Atul Bedade, Shri Nayan Mongia. Shri Salim
Ginwala and Kum. Lata George participate at World universities game in football
and table tennis respectively. Kum. Trishal Singh and Shri Devendra Singh won
gold medals in All India Inter University Swimming and Athletics competitions
respectively. Beside this, university cricket, Kho-Kho and Football teams won
the All India Inter University Championship. University Table Tennis (Women)and
Badminton (Women) teams qualified for the Inter Zonal Tournaments.
The department also looks after routine work of swimming
pool, D N Hall cricket ground, tennis courts, gymnasium and other indoor and out
door sports facilities for the entire student community of the university. Our
university four students Shri Jyot Chhaya, Shri Jaikishan Kolsawala, Shri Aditya
Waghmode and Rajdeep Rana has represented Baroda Cricket Association in Ranji
Trophy. The Baroda Cricket Association was runner in Ranji Trouphy long version
cricket in the year 2010-11.
